Visiting and Accessing the Ambulance Service of Manchester’s Main Office

As the renovation of ASM’s main office comes to a close with only a couple of details left to finish, means for accessing, visiting and conducting business at ASM’s Main Office have changed. We are a 24-hour operation and as such the building itself is always staffed. However, staff members are not always accessible and you should not expect to speak with dispatch or administrative staff after-hours. The rear billing office and dispatch center doors are locked and accessible only by employees with key fob access.

If you are coming to visit us, please read the following instructions:

  1. If you are having a medical emergency, call 9-1-1.
  2. Business and billing inquiries, deliveries, visitors, guests, those taking EMS or other classes or attending meetings or to drop off employment applications: Such routine business should be conducted Monday through Friday 7AM to 4PM whenever possible. Please enter under the blue awning marked Main Entrance on the south side of the building and speak with a member of the office staff. If this door is locked there are no staff members currently in the building to assist with billing or business inquiries.
  3. Field Interns and Observers: If you are doing ride time (also known as a ride along, field internship, job shadow, etc.), during regular business hours, enter under the blue awning marked Dispatch in the rear of the building and pick up the red phone in the lobby to speak with a dispatcher.
  4. After hours and on weekends or on any occasion where you find all exterior doors to be locked, please call (860) 649-8900 to speak with the dispatcher. It is more effective to make this call than to knock on or pull locked doors.
  5. We are at your service, however the safety and security of all of our employees is of the utmost importance. Please take this into consideration.

Renovation and Expansion of ASM’s “10-1″: Volume 18

MANCHESTER — Additions and renovations to the Ambulance Service of Manchester’s main headquarters, known to employees as “10-1,” continue. As of this writing:

  • The last remaining storage ‘cage’ in the ambulance bay has been demolished and the space is being utilized for nose-in parking for the two bariatric units.
  • Signage, awnings and planters are in place for the new main entrance and the dispatch entrance as pictured.

The next steps are re-configuring the main call-taking office, finishing carpeting certain spaces, constructing the hands-on training area and adding the awning to the new entrance.

Renovation and Expansion of ASM’s “10-1″: Volume 17

MANCHESTER — Additions and renovations to the Ambulance Service of Manchester’s main headquarters, known to employees as “10-1,” continue. As of this writing:

  • The dispatching and communications functions have been moved into the brand new, renovated Communications Center which is awaiting a new kitchenette in order to be complete. The Center now has additional monitor screens per dispatcher, additional dispatching positions if needed as well as special lighting systems and other features.
  • The last remaining storage ‘cage’ in the ambulance bay has been demolished to make way for nose-in parking for the two bariatric units.
  • The new, additional classroom/meeting space is fully functional and in use complete with an AV podium, kitchenette, separate entrance and special lighting.
  • Signage, an awning and planters will be added to the new main entrance soon.

The next steps are re-configuring the main call-taking office, finishing carpeting certain spaces, constructing the hands-on training area and adding the awning to the new entrance.

Renovation and Expansion of ASM’s “10-1″: Volume 16

MANCHESTER — Additions and renovations to the Ambulance Service of Manchester’s main headquarters, known to employees as “10-1,” continue. As of this writing:

  • The new main entrance on the south side of the building is open and in use, complete with a new reception area.
  • Water fountains have been installed.
  • The old storage cages have been demolished to make space for a fourth lift in the fleet maintenance area and for more ambulance and wheelchair van parking.
  • Signage, an awning and planters will be added to the new entrance soon.
  • The dispatch center is near completion with a new layout, carpet tiles, area for a kitchenette, a new crew entrance, a separate wheelchair van dispatch area and more.

The next steps are moving dispatch into its new home and re-configuring the main call-taking office.

Renovation and Expansion of ASM’s “10-1″: Volume 15

MANCHESTER — Additions and renovations to the Ambulance Service of Manchester’s main headquarters, known to employees as “10-1,” continue. As of this writing:

  • The main hallway is complete.
  • The foyer is complete and the reception window is functional creating a new main entrance on the south side of the building.
  • The new training room is complete including the placement of a integrated training podium.
  • The new storage area is complete.
  • The Dispatch Center walls and ceiling have been demolished. The wall between dispatch and a defunct office space has been cut through to accommodate the placement of a new wheelchair van dispatch office.

The next steps are constructing the new Dispatch Center, installing signage and an awning over the new main entrance, re-configuring the main call-taking office, installing water fountains and demolishing the old storage cages for more ambulance and wheelchair van parking.

Renovation and Expansion of ASM’s “10-1″: Volume 14

  • The painting and flooring in the main hallway is complete.
  • The small conference and training room is now housing a  temporary dispatch center during the renovation.
  • The foyer flooring is complete and the reception window is functional.
  • The locker room is complete and in use.
  • The new training room is mostly complete including the placement of a integrated training podium. Installation of the drop down screen is pending.
  • The new storage area is open and medical supplies and other materials are being moved in.
  • Demolition of the old dispatch area is underway.
  • The wall between dispatch and a defunct office space has been cut through to accommodate the placement of a new wheelchair van dispatch office.

The next steps are renovating and expanding the new Dispatch Center, opening the new main entrance, completing the main hall drop ceiling, re-configuring the main call-taking office, installing water fountains and demolishing the old storage cages for more ambulance and wheelchair van parking.

MANCHESTER — Additions and renovations to the Ambulance Service of Manchester’s main headquarters, known to employees as “10-1,” continue. As of this writing:

  • The drop ceiling and painting in the main hallway is nearing completion.
  • An additional small conference area has been added.
  • The small conference and training room has been emptied to accommodate a temporary dispatch center during renovations.
  • A reception window has been added in the new entrance foyer.

The next steps are renovating and expanding the new Dispatch Center, carpeting the main hallway, opening the new main entrance, adding finishes and flooring in several areas and re-configuring the main call-taking office.

Renovation and Expansion of ASM’s “10-1″: Volume 12

MANCHESTER — Additions and renovations to the Ambulance Service of Manchester’s main headquarters, known to employees as “10-1,” continue. As of this writing:

  • A new main entrance has been cut in the brick and cinder block on the south side of the building.
  • A new main lobby area has been created with dual glass entryways and a reception area.
  • The second tier of old exterior wall has been cut through to create a new main hallway that extends from the new entrance all the way to the ambulance bay.
  • Lockers have been moved to a new locker room with staging area for medical supplies.
  • The drop ceiling for the main hallway has been installed.
  • A second hallway has been created in the rear of the building (western side) to give access from the call taking area to the office hallway. Four new offices have been constructed and completed in this area.

The next steps are moving into the new offices, completing the new main hallway and reception area, updating and moving the Dispatch-Communications offices and updating the call-taking office.

Renovation and Expansion of ASM’s “10-1″: Volume 11

MANCHESTER — Additions and renovations to the Ambulance Service of Manchester’s main headquarters, known to employees as “10-1,” continue. As of this writing:

  • The former men’s and women’s bathrooms within the billing office have been demolished as well as the notched hallway walls in order to make way for a new main lobby. The new lobby is taking shape as two glass entry doors have been added and the hallway has been framed.
  • New offices have been framed and drywall has been hung in the rear of the building where the Medicare office once stood and the wall between two of the offices has been removed to double its size.
  • Flooring has been added in the new staging area and locker room.
  • The former main entrance has had the window removed and the cut-out sealed.

The next steps are completing those items listed above as well as installing and completing the drop ceilings, moving the lockers, completing the lobby area and adding in the reception area window.

Renovation and Expansion of ASM’s “10-1″: Volume 10

MANCHESTER — Additions and renovations to the Ambulance Service of Manchester’s main headquarters, known to employees as “10-1,” continue. As of this writing:

  • Construction of the new classroom space is complete, with kitchenette and is awaiting drop down screen and AV equipment.
  • The main restrooms are complete and in-service.
  • The Medicare and accounts payable sections of the billing office are complete and those billing agents have moved into the new space.
  • The ancillary/back hallway has flooring and new door.
  • The old men’s and women’s bathrooms have been demolished as well as the hallway walls to make way for a new main lobby.
  • The old Medicare billing office and collections area are awaiting demo and construction of a new hallway that passes through from the call-taking area.

The next steps are mainly listed above but include the construction of new offices and hallways, moving the lockers into a new area and completion of a new lobby and main entrance.

Renovation and Expansion of ASM’s “10-1″: Volume 9

MANCHESTER — Additions and renovations to the Ambulance Service of Manchester’s main headquarters, known to employees as “10-1,” continue. As of this writing:

  • Drop ceiling has been added in the entire new space except for the ancillary training room where the walls will extend to the deck/roof.
  • The main restrooms are nearly complete with fixtures, stalls, flooring and cabinetry in place.
  • Painting of walls and trim and staining of doors has been completed.
  • Utility room floors have been sealed.

The next steps are to complete and open for service the main restrooms so that demolition can move to the oldest restrooms and the old side entrance hallway, complete flooring, activate HVAC systems and begin phase two of demolition and construction.

Renovation and Expansion of ASM’s “10-1″: Volume 8

MANCHESTER — Additions and renovations to the Ambulance Service of Manchester’s main headquarters, known to employees as “10-1,” continue. As of this writing:

  • Primer and in some cases paint has been applied to the main rooms.
  • Heavy doors have been hung in some of the offices and pass through areas.
  • The new main restrooms have been tiled.
  • Drop ceiling has been hung in all the new spaces.
  • Data wiring has been run and the secure space for computer servers has been prepared.
  • Windows and doorways have been boxed and framed with trim added.
  • Baseboard heating, thermostats and other HVAC equipment has been installed.

The next steps are to complete the drop ceiling by adding tiles, complete power control installation, touch up the paint, add flooring and add fixtures to the bathrooms. When completed, the renovated space will include additional training and simulation areas, a relocated locker area, new offices, a medical supply staging area, and two new restrooms although the plans remain fluid.

Renovation and Expansion of ASM’s “10-1″: Volume 7

MANCHESTER — The renovation of space once occupied by Marcus Communications continues…

  • Primer and in some cases paint has been applied to the main rooms.
  • In the hands-on, body mechanics training room, matte black paint has been applied to the exposed roof structure and part of the deck.
  • A corner soffit was framed to accommodate a drop down screen for an AV projection system.
  • Doors were hung in one of the new offices.
  • Metal framing has been added to the door cutouts in the main hallway.
  • The dry wall was cut through a removed where the main cross-hall will go, connecting the old and new spaces.

The next steps are to complete priming and painting, hang doors and install the lighting and drop ceiling.

When completed, the renovated space will include additional training and simulation areas, a relocated locker area, new offices, a medical supply staging area, and two new restrooms although the plans remain fluid.

Renovation and Expansion of ASM’s “10-1″: Volume 6

MANCHESTER — The renovation of space once occupied by Marcus Communications continues.

  • Basic framing was completed and most of the dry wall is in place and has been joined with compound and sanded within the new space.
  • The fire sprinkler system has been extended to pass the level of the drop ceiling.
  • HAVC systems have been upgraded and re-routed.
  • The basic shape of the rooms is evident.
  • Doorways have been framed in the main hallway.

The next steps are to complete the drywalling process and begin installing the drop ceiling. Visible in the pictures is the shape of the new office space, hallways, training rooms, billing office area, restrooms and medical staging areas.

When completed, the renovated space will include additional training and simulation areas, a relocated locker area, new offices, a medical supply staging area, and two new restrooms although the plans remain fluid.

Renovation and Expansion of ASM’s “10-1″: Volume 5

MANCHESTER — The renovation of space once occupied by Marcus Communications continues. The basic framing of the new space is mostly complete. Electrical and plumbing is being run and the existing structural walls are being prepped for adaptation to the plan and space.

The next steps are to complete electrical and plumbing and start to hang walls. Visible in the pictures is new office space for the billing office, an additional server room, changes to what will be the main corridor including a bump out leading to restrooms with space where a water fountain may be mounted.

When completed, the renovated space will include additional training and simulation areas, a relocated locker area, new offices, a medical supply staging area, and two new restrooms although the plans remain fluid.

Renovation and Expansion of ASM’s “10-1”: Volume 4

Renovation PlanMANCHESTER — The renovation of space once occupied by Marcus Communications continues. The direction of water flow through the building has been changed. A system of trenches had been dug for that purpose are close to being filled and sealed.

The album shows before and after photos and framing of the space is well underway. The next steps are to complete framing and start to hang walls.

The overall plan is to have the main entrance be on the south side of the building with a main hallway through the center down to the main vehicle bay. The renovated space will include additional training and simulation areas, a relocated locker area, new offices, a medical supply staging area, and two new restrooms although the plans remain fluid.
