HARTFORD —\u00a0<\/span>As of March 28, 2012,<\/span> Aetna’s Matt Carter has been cleared by Hartford Hospital medical control for independent dispatch as a paramedic to the towns that Aetna serves.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

His preceptor was Paramedic<\/span>\u00a0Robert Velletri.\u00a0<\/span>The full precepting phase can take ten to 12 weeks or more as the paramedic is prepped for the realities of the field.\u00a0As with all precepting phases at Aetna,\u00a0Matt’s final approval came from the Hartford Hospital EMS\/Trauma Coordinator who shadowed Matt and his preceptor in the field as they responded to emergency calls.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Matt began the process back in 2009 completing Hartford Hospital’s EMT program, then joined Goodwin College in September of 2010 for the Paramedic program. Matt was hired in January of this year and began precepting as a paramedic on February 15th. In that time Matt completed nearly 90 ALS calls with his preceptor Robert Velletri. <\/span><\/p>\n
