The EKG was indicative of a STEMI and Billy\u00a0wirelessly transmitted the 12-lead EKG to UConn Health in Farmington, activating their cardiac catherization lab from the field. (#16-33635).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>Per UConn Health:\u00a0<\/em><br \/>\nA 12-lead ECG revealed a high lateral STEMI. Schnepp consulted with medical control for destination due to\u00a0patient\u2019s requested choice of PCI center, and received permission to transport to UCONN John Dempsey\u00a0Hospital. Due to concern for potential patient deterioration, Schnepp received intercept help from Windsor EMS\u00a0paramedic Wayne Cabral.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.asm-aetna.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/STEMI-UConn.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-7278\" src=\"http:\/\/www.asm-aetna.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/STEMI-UConn-300x238.jpg\" alt=\"STEMI UConn\" width=\"300\" height=\"238\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.asm-aetna.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/STEMI-UConn-300x238.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.asm-aetna.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/STEMI-UConn-768x608.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.asm-aetna.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/STEMI-UConn-1024x811.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.asm-aetna.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/STEMI-UConn-379x300.jpg 379w, https:\/\/www.asm-aetna.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/STEMI-UConn.jpg 1500w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>Schnepp called in a STEMI Alert from 33 minutes out. When they arrived at the\u00a0hospital, thanks to the early notification, the patient was taken directly to the cardiac cath lab on the EMS stretcher\u00a0where Dr. Michael Azrin and team found a 100% acute thrombic occlusion of the patient\u2019s mid left Anterior\u00a0Descending Artery (LAD), which was successfully cleared and stented, restoring perfusion.
