HARTFORD — On March 21st, ASM Paramedic Supervisor Vinnie Maston presented to the Greater Hartford Chapter of “Mended Hearts”. The chapter requested an speaker from the EMS community to present examples of the cutting edge technology presently in use in the field.

According to their website, Mended Hearts is a national and community-based non-profit organization that has been “offering the gift of hope to heart disease patients, their families and caregivers.”

Mended Hearts holds monthly meetings designed to support members in their recovery from cardiac events. Members also visit cardiac patients during their hospitalization to provide information, support, encouragement and assistance. Currently members of the Greater Hartford Chapter visit patients at Hartford Hospital, Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center and UConn Health Center.

The National Mended Hearts organization is celebrating its 60th Anniversary this year. In addition, the Greater Hartford Chapter will be celebrating its 35th Anniversary in June.

Shortly after Vinnie’s presentation, ASM received this thank you letter:

“He was terrific!  Everyone appreciated his presentation, and several members said they could have stayed all night listening to him.  They want us to have him again next year. He loves what he is doing and it comes through in his talk. We had no idea about the advancement in technology, equipment and education a paramedic requires. Thank you for choosing him to represent ASM and keep in touch.”
