Cleared for Independent Dispatch: ASM’s Mike Mayo Completes Precepting Phase

ASM's Mike Mayo Completes Precepting
(L to R): ECHN’s Marge Letitia, ASM’s Mike Mayo and Mike Panciera

MANCHESTER — As of March 14, 2012, ASM’s Mike Mayo has been cleared by Eastern Connecticut Health Network medical control for independent dispatch as a paramedic to the towns that ASM serves.

His preceptors were Paramedic Sue Allen and Paramedic Supervisor Mike Panciera. The full precepting phase can take ten to 12 weeks or more as the paramedic is prepped for the realities of the field. As with all precepting phases at ASM, Mike’s final approval came from the ECHN EMS/Trauma Coordinator who shadowed Mike and his preceptor in the field as they responded to emergency calls.

Mike’s hometown is Mansfield Center, Connecticut. He became certified as an Emergency Medical Technician through Code One Training Solutions in the Spring of 2009, took a tactical EMS program in the Summer and started at ASM in October of 2009. Mike’s main influence to get into EMS came from his family who are in the medical profession.

Mike completed his paramedic program and licensure through Capital Community College, finishing in October 2011. His future career goals include continuing his EMS education, possibly pursuing an EMS-Instructor certification and maybe becoming a flight paramedic at some point down the line.

On behalf of the ASM Family, we would like to wish Mike the best of luck and say we are very proud to have such skilled professionals on staff.
