Emergency of Hunger Results!

MANCHESTER – The 12th Annual “Emergency of Hunger” Food Drive, composed of 1st Responders, Rotary members, and others, was a great success. All donations went to benefit South Windsor Food & Fuel bank and Manchester Area Conferences of Churches food pantry. This year, we collected food, gift cards and cash at Highland Park Market, Geisler’s and Stop & Shop in both South Windsor and Manchester. With added precautions in place to ensure the safety of the participants as well as the donors, we finished strong and here are the results:

South Windsor Totals: Food Items: 8,984 Turkeys: 160 Cash: $12,000

Manchester Totals: Food Items: 7,723 Turkeys: 366 Cash: $18,691.73

Combined Totals: Food Items: 16,707 Turkeys: 526 Cash: $30,691.73

ASM would like to thank everyone involved for making this year’s food drive a success, despite the added challenges.

Highland Park Market, Stop & Shop South Windsor, Geissler’s, Manchester Police Department, South Windsor Police Department, Harbor Chase, South Windsor Rotary Club, Manchester Police Explorers, South Windsor Fire Department, Manchester Community College and all of hard working staff at Ambulance service of Manchester.

Stuff-a-Truck in South Windsor a Success!

Despite the snowstorm, 2017 proved to be another great year for South Windsor’s annual Stuff-a-Truck event. 7,000 food items, 326 toys, and over $1800 in cash were collected. South Windsor Rotarians, Police and Fire Department members, along with ASM’s own Andrew Wysocki and Cheryl Everest braved the weather to help our neighbors in need. A huge thanks to all of the generous donors that made this event the success that it was!

MANCHESTER – The 8th Annual “Emergency of Hunger” Food Drive, composed of first responders, Rotary members, and others, was a great success! Their combined efforts continue to make a deep and widening impact on hunger in greater Hartford. This year volunteers from Manchester, Vernon, South Windsor, Windsor, and Stop & Shop Supermarkets collected a staggering 34,000+ food items, 650+ turkeys, and almost $16,000 in gift card and monitory donations.

Thanks to the wonderful generosity of the community over the last eight years, we have been able to collect a total of 247,000+ food items, 7,000+ turkeys, and over $159,500 in gift card and monitory donations.

Mannequin Challenge at “Emergency of Hunger” Food Drive

South Windsor – In an effort to attract holiday shoppers and boost spirits during the “Emergency of Hunger” Food Drive this past weekend, participants created a Mannequin Challenge Video.  ASM employees, along with members of the South Windsor Rotary Club, Fire Department, and Police Department improvised and filmed the video while collecting goods. The video has been viewed over 32,000 times on South Windsor PD’s Facebook page alone!
