HARTFORD — On March 21st, ASM Paramedic Supervisor Vinnie Maston presented to the Greater Hartford Chapter of “Mended Hearts”. The chapter requested an speaker from the EMS community to present examples of the cutting edge technology presently in use in the field.

According to their website, Mended Hearts is a national and community-based non-profit organization that has been “offering the gift of hope to heart disease patients, their families and caregivers.” Continue reading

MANCHESTER — On February 3, 2012 Ambulance Service of Manchester crew members Vinnie Maston and Ryan McConville responded to a non-emergency transport request from a private residence within ASM’s service area.

As per normal practice for patients who request non-emergency service from their private residence, within two weeks the patient received a Patient Satisfaction Survey. The patient and her caregivers promptly sent back a glowing response on the care she received. So glowing that it needed to be shared. Continue reading

Aetna at Hartford Hospital ED - Cill RussoHARTFORD — When Hartford Hospital opened their new Orange Pod within the Emergency Department, a dramatic picture by photographer Cill Russo was displayed in the main hallway.

Russo photographed the Aetna Ambulance Dodge Sprinter at night for maximum visual impact. The shot captures the intensity and urgency of emergency medicine and we were proud to be represented. Aetna has provided EMS to the south end of Hartford since 1945.

Kudos continue – to the Cath Lab/ED/EMS team. This patient was brought by ASM who transmitted ECG and activated the team pre-hospitaly (STEMI). Ambulance Team of the Year Hartford Hospital Aetna Throughput Discharge Planning

The plaque and medal for 2011 Team of the Year finalist were presented by Hartford Healthcare President Elliot Joseph and Hartford Hospital CEO Jeff Flaks at a ceremony at the hospital on November 8th.

HARTFORD – Efficient patient flow and throughput is critical to any hospital’s clinical and financial performance. Late discharge times prevent the timely transition of all Patients and the early identification of available beds, resulting in delays in appropriate Patient placement, increased length of stay, and the inefficient use of resources. To address inefficiencies and possible synergies, Hartford Hospital commissioned the Discharge Planning Action Group (DPAG). Continue reading
